Rick Castle Poker Buddies

Hello everyone. This is Stone Westmoreland. Madison and I arrived in Atlanta earlier today. I was on a book signing tour in Minnesota to promote my latest action thriller titled, While She Was Weeping. It should be at a bookstore near you. Or there’s a chance my tour might bring me to you town.

I looked over all the questions …and I intend to address as many as I can. First off, I want to say that after almost seven years of marriage that Madison and I are still very much in love. Married life is great! And our son Rock is an extension of that love. He’s four now and makes me a proud father. As far as more kids….I’ll let you in on a secret. Madison is pregnant. Just found out a few days ago. We would love a girl this time around but we’ll be more than happy to take another son. The reason it’s a secret is because we haven’t told Uncle Corey and Abby yet. We plan a trip out there in a few weeks, before it gets too cold on the mountain. We plan to stay through Thanksgiving. Madison is doing better with the flying thing but won’t get on a plane unless I’m with her.

My book tour takes me all over the globe and now that Madison is doing the symphony concert circuit, we try to arrange our gigs in the same areas of the world. So far it works out fine. The only time I have to do a book tour is when I have a new release, which is once a year. I’ve written over 18 books now and all of them have made the New York Times Best Seller’s List. Several were made into movies and they did well at the box-office.

Our (and, you know, Rick’s) long Castle nightmare is over. In an episode that took the novelist/P.I. To Los Angeles and reunited Nathan Fillion with Firefly costar Summer Glau, viewers at long. Every now and again Richard Castle gets together with his literary friends to play poker and talk shop. Real life authors James Patterson, Steven J Cannell, Dennis Lehane and others. All the episodes featuring writers' games have 'Death/Dead' in the title. The poker buddy. The man with the smirk on his face and the glint of mischief in his eye. It was the name that Kiera had called him by before he had become 'Rick Castle'. After she left him though, it was the name that he gave to the rest of the world. WRITERS: Where's the twist? Cannell and Patterson advise Rick in Poker Buddies scenes, most beloved, with the best and most influential writers appearing on Castle. (Because of Castle, I've read and reread all their work). When Cannell passes, an empty chair stands tribute. Clip from Castle season 1 episode 9; 'A little girl lost.' Real-Life Authors with Castle (Poker Buddies) - Duration. My Top 35 Favorite Rick Castle Moments - Duration: 10:19.

Right now I’m focusing on what I do best, which are action thrillers with no plans to write other genre’s. And I still only write as Rock Mason. You’ll be surprise how many people assume that’s my real name. I did a book signing with Rick Castle last year and we talked about trying to work on something together. Only thing, I do action thrillers and he does murder mysteries. But we figure that together we might be able to give our readers a breath-catching story. Rick is pretty busy with his TV show – Castle – and all. It’s been getting good ratings. Don’t be surprise if you happen to see me in a cameo appearance at the poker table with Castle and James Patterson.

If I could change anything, what would it be? The misunderstanding that almost had me lose the woman I love. But that’s all in the past. We’ve moved ahead. We live in both Boston and Atlanta, but mostly in Atlanta. Whenever Madison does her concerts it’s always a packed house. She has a gift with the piano and already she’s teaching Rock to play.

Someone asked why I named my son Rock. I did it because I thought it was fitting . He’s solid. Just like my love for his mother is solid. And yes, Madison and I have gone back to the cabin in Montana a number of times. In fact, we’re convinced that’s where Rock was conceived. I thought about writing about a murder on Corey’s Mountain but Uncle Corey talked me out of it. He doesn’t want anyone setting foot on his mountain to see if it actually exists. Abby has persuaded Uncle Cory to come down off his mountain more now than ever these days. They know how Madison hate flying and have no problem coming to us. Abby still has that business interest in Boston so she often visits us whenever she can catch us there.

Madison’s music is going great and she’s composed a few pieces for a number of well–known artists. She prefers doing symphonies and I feel so proud whenever she does one. My lady is so gifted.

All of you know I wasn’t in a hurry to settle down with a woman. In fact, when I met Madison on that plane I was trying to escape to the mountains in Montana for those very reason. That just goes to show that you can’t run, nor can you hide from true love.

We’re looking forward to visiting Delaney next year for the coronation. The baby should be born by then. Remember, news about the baby is a secret until we fly out to Montana and tell Abby and Uncle Corey.

It’s strange. With Abby and Uncle Cory married, that makes Madison step-sister to Cole, Clint and Casey, and step-daughter to Uncle Corey. On the other hand since she’s married to me, that means that Cole, Clint and Casey are also her cousins and Uncle Corey is her uncle. We often joke about it. But regardless, she’s a Westmoreland through and through, more than triple times over.

An author with a twist, Richard Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, is a fictional character and also a star of the ABC series, Castle. In this series, Richard is a novelist who helps the New York Police Department solve murder crimes. The real mystery is who the actual writer or writers are. Nathan attends book tours, signing as Richard Castle, but where the novels actually come from is unknown. There are rumors, however, that Tom Straw and Brad Parks may be two of the writers contributing to Richard Castle’s success. In real life, Castle has his own website, and all of the novels from the series are actual novels that have been published; all of which claim Richard Castle as the writer.

Rick Castle's Poker Buddies

Richard lives in New York City with his mother Martha; his daughter, Alexis; and is CIA operative who goes by the alias Jackson Hunt. His original name was Richard Alexander Rodgers, however, when he became a writer he changed it to Richard Edgar Castle, in honor of the great Edgar Allan Poe. Richard was firm from the beginning about taking an active role in raising his daughter due to the abandonment issues he faced from his own father not being in the picture and being raised by a nanny. Alexis, is portrayed as being somewhat more mature than her father leaving the question of who is raising who.

The Castle Library

As mentioned above, to take this series a step farther, Castle producers took the “ Murder She Wrote ” approach and published actual novels based on the novels Richard wrote in the series. This peaked the interests of several viewers and also brought in another source of revenue. The Castle Library consists of twenty six (26) best sellers. Richard’s very first novel, In a Hail of Bullets, was written during his college years in a bathroom stall at a bar. It was rejected several times prior to Black Pawn finally publishing it; at which point it became a best seller. This novel won the Nom-DePlume Society’s Tom-Straw-Award for Mystery Literature.

The Storm Series

Richard Castle is mostly popular due to his Derrick Storm and Nikki Heat series. In the first of the Derrick Storm series, Gathering Storm, Derrick Storm, is asked to protect the Swiss Ambassador’s daughter from a KGB agent who is known for killing his victims with an undetectable poison. In Unholy Storm, Derrick is hired by a prestigious French family to hunt down the person who murdered their daughter and four other victims. Storm’s Last Stand, tells the story of how Derrick has to work with people from his past in order to solve the mystery of a mutual friend’s death. In Storm Season, Derrick is pushed further into what should have been a standard investigation after bugging the hotel suite of an African head of state and hearing a woman’s terrifying scream over the wire. In Storm Rising, Derrick teams up with a jewel thief named Bentley Siver to bring down a Parisian thief. Storm Warning takes Derrick on an investigation to find the murder of his close friend, Attorney Sam Strummel. Storm’s Break tells how Derrick fights to stop the Panama kingpin from human trafficking runaway teenage girls. In Storm Fall, Derrick has to solve the-mystery of who is sabotaging his live and ends in the unexpected, supposed, death of this character.

The Heat Series

The Heat series tells the story of Nikki Heat, a fictional character based on one of the “ real life ” fictional characters in the show, Detective Kate Beckett. Thanks to his friendship with the mayor, Richard gets to ride along with detective Beckett and solve crimes. He then bases the Heat novels off of his investigations with Detective Beckett. In the first novel of this series, Heat

Wave, Nikki Heat is put on the case when a New York real estate tycoon plunges to his death, and fingers point to a surviving trophy wife with a past. In her next story, Naked Heat, Nikki investigates the murder of the gossip columnist, Cassidy Towne. In, Heat Rises, Nikki has to solve the mysterious murder of a parish priest at a New York bondage club. Nikki teams up with Jameson Rook to solve the murder of a woman that ties in with the murder of Nikki’s own mother. In the final chapter of the Heat series, Deadly Heat, Nikki and Jameson pursue the former CIA station chief that was responsible for the murder of Nikki’s mother.

Stand Alone Novels

Richard has also written several stand alone novels. Death of a Prom Queen is a murder mystery starring Cassie Evans, valedictorian of her high school in the small town of Saltee, North Carolina. As Cassie’s classmates are being killed off, Cassie has to discover who the killer is before she ends up being the only one to live to graduation. Flowers-for-Your-Grave tells how Leroy Fine attempts to crack the case of the “Florist” a serial killer, in order to gain back everything he has lost.

In Hell Hath No Fury Adam Parel moves his family to the remote town of Jessup to finish his first novel, and while he is there he unravels the mystery of an obsessive cult and their connection with the people going missing. In A Skull at Springtime, Rachel Lyons, a student trying to pay her way through college, discovers a field of corpses, and has to escape back to civilization before she is the next to die. At Dusk We Die tells the story of how small-town Ben Meltzer has to take his family and flee from home after the Satan’s Creed, a gang of biker-riding vampires ravages his town to feed. In When it Comes to Slaughter, the only two police officers, Chief Derek Olson and Deputy Ana Ruiz, in the small town of Fair Haven Vermont, have to uncover who or what is behind the brutal murders of two families. A Rose Forever After, tells of how Sister Mary Grace investigates the murders of the girls of the Blessed Sacrament School for Girls, when their bodies turn up in shallow graves holding red roses.
